As part of our continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Senior HSE Advisor to help strengthen our Health, Safety & Environmental culture and ensure operational excellence across our manufacturing facility in Portsmouth. This is an opportunity to play a highly visible role, influencing safety performance, compliance, and cultural change within a regulated aerospace manufacturing environment.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead HSE Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with UK HSE legislation and company standards.
- Lead audits, inspections, and workplace monitoring activities.
- Manage risk assessments, COSHH, and safe systems of work.
- Support incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
- Monitor HSE performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support environmental compliance activities including waste, emissions, and permits.
- Manage contractor safety and permit-to-work processes.
- Support Operational HSE Delivery
- Maintain HSE records, documentation, and reporting systems.
- Deliver toolbox talks, safety communications, and training support.
- Conduct shop-floor inspections and behavioural observations.
- Support occupational health initiatives and new starter inductions.
- Provide practical day-to-day HSE guidance to operational teams.
- Drive Safety Culture & Continuous Improvement
- Act as a visible and credible safety leader.
- Promote proactive safety behaviours and workforce engagement.
- Coach managers and supervisors to strengthen safety accountability.
- Challenge unsafe behaviours constructively.
- Support behavioural safety and culture change initiatives.
- Embed HSE into daily operational decision-making.
- Build Strong Stakeholder Relationships
- Partner with Production, Engineering, Quality, HR, and Maintenance teams.
- Provide practical, solutions-focused HSE support.
- Influence positive behavioural and cultural change across the business.
What We're Looking For
- Required
- NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum)
- Experience within manufacturing, engineering, aerospace, or industrial environments
- Strong knowledge of UK HSE legislation
- Experience conducting risk assessments and incident investigations
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to influence both shop-floor employees and senior leaders
- Practical, organised, and solutions-focused mindset
- Preferred
- NEBOSH Diploma (or working towards)
- IOSH Membership
- Experience within regulated or safety-critical industries
- ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 knowledge
- Environmental management experience
- Experience supporting behavioural safety or cultural transformation programmes
