Welsh Government’s Publicly Owned Renewable Energy Developer – Trydan Gwyrdd Cymru

About Us

Trydan Gwyrdd Cymru (Trydan) was established by the Welsh Government in 2023 to put net zero and Welsh communities at the heart of tackling climate change. We accelerate renewable energy projects across the Welsh public estate, focusing on onshore wind and solar PV. Our goal is to deliver one gigawatt of locally generated, publicly owned clean energy by 2040.

Revenue from these projects will be reinvested into Welsh communities, supporting the transition to clean energy, creating high-quality green jobs, and ensuring local people benefit directly from the journey to net zero.

Reporting to the Head of Public Involvement, you’ll gain hands-on experience working with local communities, stakeholders, businesses, and project teams. You’ll help shape projects, ensuring stakeholder voices are heard, and contribute to our ethos of “Power to Prosper” by maximising social and environmental benefits.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Working with colleagues to understand and respond to local priorities.
  • Ensuring all external communications align with project and corporate messaging.
  • Using your digital skills to maximise community engagement and reach.
  • Promoting a safety-conscious, sustainable working environment.

What We’re Looking For

We welcome applications from recent graduates passionate about public involvement, sustainability, and shaping a better Wales. You should be creative, a good listener, and interested in working with diverse people and communities.

Essential skills and experience:

  • A degree in any subject; Communications, Welsh/English, Psychology, Community Development, Geography, Sociology, Politics, or other social sciences advantageous.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Welsh and English.
  • Genuine interest in people, with the ability to build positive relationships.
  • Strong IT and digital skills, including proficiency with tools such as Microsoft 365, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, or similar.
  • Creative ability to produce engaging local content and bespoke digital communications.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • A UK driving licence, as travel to rural areas will be required.

Why Join Us?
