Flood Risk Management Graduate Placement in Conwy

The role involves supporting the delivery of our flood warning service, working with colleagues and partners to help communities understand flood risk and prepare flood plans, as well as supporting incident response during flood events. You will have the opportunity to work with other Flood Risk Management teams to broaden your experience.

Key responsibilities include:

• Supporting delivery of work plans created by the team.
• Maintaining records and information in line with regulations/legislation and agreed standards.
• Participating in team meetings and external meetings with other members of the team.
• Interacting with peers in other NRW teams.
• Contributing towards the team’s delegated responsibility for delivery of work programmes.
• Undertaking health and safety duties and responsibilities appropriate to the post.
• Committing to Natural Resources Wales Equal Opportunities and Diversity Policy.
• Committing to your own development through the effective use of your personal development plan.
• Any other reasonable duties requested commensurate with the grade of this role.

Your qualifications, experience, knowledge and skills should include:

• A graduate qualification in an environmental and sustainability related discipline from a higher education institution.
• Good understanding of flood risk management principles.
• Good written and verbal skills with the ability to communicate confidently.
• Excellent customer service skills and good inter-personal skills.
• Ability to work under pressure using your own initiative to meet tight deadlines.
• Strong ICT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Full UK driving licence.

Welsh Language level requirements: Essential Level A1 - Entry level. If you do not meet the A1 requirement, NRW offers a variety of learning options and staff support to help you meet these minimal requirements during your employment.

Additional Information: Successful applicants will be subject to a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service Check (DBS). Appointments are normally made within 4 to 8 weeks of the closing date. Natural Resources Wales is unable to offer visa sponsorship for this position.
