Darogan are thrilled to be partnering with a pioneering technology company in Bridgend, South Wales, focused on the sustainable, large-scale production of ultralong carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and hydrogen. Their patented process transforms plastics and solvents—including hard-to-recycle waste—into high-performance CNTs and hydrogen, driving innovation in energy efficiency, advanced materials, and the circular economy.

They are rapidly scaling operations and developing next-generation conductive wires, composites, and building materials that outperform traditional metals and support decarbonized infrastructure. They value practical problem-solving, bold innovation, and a multidisciplinary team spirit!

Process Technician Role Summary:

They are seeking a Process Technician to support carbon nanotube production by working closely with engineers and process scientists to operate, monitor, and improve CVD furnace processes. The role focuses on maintaining clear communication around process conditions and operational changes, supporting safe and consistent production, and contributing to continuous improvement across manufacturing and R&D activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process Operations: Set up, operate, and maintain CVD furnaces and related nanomaterial synthesis equipment. Set up, calibrate, test, and adjust process rigs and associated chemical or mechanical hardware.
  • Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Carry out routine system checks, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting to identify and resolve process deviations.
  • Prototyping and Testing: Support the fabrication, commissioning and testing of experimental rigs, fixtures, and mechanical assemblies for R&D projects.
  • Documentation: Record process parameters, production data, maintenance activities, and operating procedures to support traceability and continuous improvement.
  • Safety and Quality: Handle, store, and safely dispose of chemicals, precursor gases, and finished nanomaterials in compliance with safety regulations, applying good laboratory practice (GLP) and quality assurance standards.

Ideal Candidate:

The company are looking for candidates with experience in process operations or equipment-based roles, such as working with high-temperature furnaces, vacuum systems, chemical vapour deposition, or similar industrial or laboratory processes. You will enjoy practical problem-solving and hands-on technical work, whether that involves operating equipment, troubleshooting processes, or improving systems. You will be comfortable using basic workshop or laboratory tools, keen to learn, and able to work collaboratively across disciplines within a small, supportive team.

Familiarity with process instrumentation, sensors, gas handling, automated controls, or reading engineering diagrams would be an advantage, but is not essential, as training will be provided. Technical certifications or qualifications in materials science, chemical engineering, or related fields are welcomed but not required. We recognise that no candidate will meet every requirement and encourage applications from people of all genders and backgrounds who are interested in developing their skills in advanced materials manufacturing.

What They Offer:

  • Competitive compensation package based on skills and experience.
  • Eligibility to enter the employee share options scheme.
  • A tailored training and career development programme, including structured mentorship within an engineering-led environment.
  • The opportunity to significantly impact a high-growth startup by working closely within the founders.

If you're ready to take on a technically engaging role that will support your professional growth, we want to hear from you. Please forward your CV to kryshka.osowicz@darogan.wales for consideration.
