Darnall Well Being is a community-focused, not-for-profit health organization dedicated to improving the health, wellbeing, and quality of life of people in Darnall, Tinsley, and nearby areas. With over 25 years of community involvement, the organization offers activities, individual support, volunteering opportunities, and health-focused initiatives. Rooted in the community, Darnall Well Being emphasizes reducing health inequalities by empowering individuals with knowledge, confidence, and resilience to manage their health. Collaborating with local partners, the organization ensures services are accessible and tailored to community needs. Its dedicated team of staff and volunteers brings invaluable lived experience and a deep understanding of local issues.

The Community Development Manager will provide strategic oversight, quality assurance and partnership development for our neighbourhood outreach, engagement and volunteer programme, strengthening Darnall Well Being’s role as an anchor organisation and widening inclusive pathways into volunteering. Joining the existing Senior Leadership Team (SLT), with a primary remit to lead on our new Community Connectors Project, funded through The National Lottery Community Fund.

Key tasks will include supporting our Volunteer Coordinator to develop the volunteer programme, but with a broader community development remit to help us reach younger and more diverse members of the community, who are most in need of employability and social opportunities, knowledge and skills. The role will both revitalise existing links and help build new partnerships locally and across the city, that will enable us to support our local population more effectively.

The Community Development Manager will also have an advocacy role for DWB to ensure we are connected with available opportunities, have a voice in decision-making processes which involve or affect our community and supporting local organisations to come together. The role will help align with the city’s direction of travel (e.g. Sheffield City Goals), alongside DWB’s priorities.

Location: Darnall Ward (main base in Darnall Primary Care Centre)

Hours: 21 hours per week

Contract: Fixed term part time (project funded) to May 2030
