Position Overview: Teacher Assistant (Exceptional Education) – 190‑day position in Darlington Area Schools for the 2026‑2027 School Year. Base salary $20,932 (based on education and teacher assistant experience). FLSA status: Non‑Exempt.
Location: Darlington Area Schools.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of sixty (60) academic credit hours from an accredited institution of higher education or an associate degree (or higher).
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Ready to Work Credentials – copy of WIN Assessment minimum Level 3 certification or ParaPro passing score (minimum 456) on ParaPro, the state‑approved academic assessment. Additional alternatives may be acceptable per Board.
Reporting To: Principal
Responsibilities:
- Provide classroom teaching assistance.
- Provide supervision of students at all times.
- Maintain a positive classroom environment.
- Provide daily care to students as needed (e.g., toileting, diapering, feeding).
- Adhere to district dress code policies.
- Maintain required confidentiality regarding students and school records.
- Positively support all facets of student growth and development.
- Be able to lift a minimum of fifty pounds.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
