Qualifications
- Must be able to use sign language efficiently.
- Minimum of sixty (60) academic credit hours from an accredited institution of higher education or an associate degree (or higher).
- Ready to Work Credentials: WIN assessment – level 4 (Silver) or higher. Work Keys assessment – passing scores in Applied Mathematics (4), Reading for Information (4), Writing (4), or ParaPro – passing score minimum 456.
- Board may find equivalent qualifications appropriate and acceptable.

Job Goal
Work with an individual student to assist the child in reaching the optimum achievement level by supporting the teacher and/or the parents.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Interpret from voice to sign and sign to voice to facilitate communication in the mainstreamed classroom.
- Serve as liaison between student and mainstreamed classroom teacher.
- Maintain daily reports of classroom activity, material covered, and student assignments.
- Participate in in-service training programs.
- Maintain a high level of ethical behaviour and confidentiality of information.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Three (3) Classified Reference Forms.
- For DCSD employees, submit a transfer form (available at schools, on the website, or in Human Resources).
