The primary purpose of this post is to support learners with additional support needs as an effective member of the Learning Support Team.
Principle Accountabilities
- Ensure learners with additional support needs are effectively supported in learning activities in the College and/or community, maintaining high standards of record-keeping.
- Communicate effectively with individual learners to clarify additional support arrangements before learning activities commence.
- Use a range of strategies to help each learner become more independent in the classroom, workshop, learning centre, College, and community.
- Assist with personal care needs according to individual learner requirements, including:
- Administration of medication following college procedures and training.
- Other personal care support such as toileting, changing, bathing, and lifting with specialist equipment, following appropriate training.
- Communicate effectively with teaching staff to clarify support arrangements prior to activities.
- Assist in preparing, modifying, and developing learning materials for individual learners.
- Maintain confidentiality of learner information in line with College policies.
- Provide individual support to enable learners to participate in social, recreational, leisure, sports, and voluntary activities.
- Contribute to the development of the Learning Support Service, collaborating with team members to deliver high standards of service within the College, schools, external agencies, and the community.
- Be familiar with health and safety legislation related to employer and employee responsibilities.
- Comply with all College Policies and Procedures, especially those related to Finance, Personnel, Health and Safety, and Equal Opportunities.
- Perform other duties appropriate to the grade of the post as required by the Principal & Chief Executive.
