The primary purpose of this post is to support learners with additional support needs as an effective member of the Learning Support Team.
Principle Accountabilities
- Ensure learners with additional support needs are effectively supported in learning activities in the College and/or community, maintaining high standards of record-keeping.
- Communicate effectively with individual learners to clarify additional support arrangements before learning activities commence.
- Use a range of strategies to help each learner become more independent in the classroom, workshop, learning centre, College, and community.
- Assist with personal care needs according to individual learner requirements, including:
- Administration of medication following college procedures and training.
- Other personal care support such as toileting, changing, bathing, and lifting with specialist equipment, following appropriate training.
Child protection is the responsibility of all staff. The College will:
- Encourage and maintain a secure environment where students feel safe, are encouraged to talk, and are listened to.
- Ensure students know staff they can approach if worried.
- Include curriculum opportunities for students to develop skills to recognize and stay safe from abuse.
- Require all staff to undertake safeguarding induction and training.
