We are excited to offer a full time Teacher of Latin with Humanities role to commence in September 2026 or earlier subject to checks. We seek a committed full time teacher who is enthusiastic and passionate about Latin and the classical world and is able to inspire a love of the subject in our students. We are seeking a subject specialist who has the ability to teach Latin to GCSE and offer at least one other of the Humanities subjects: History, Geography and/or Religious Education.
Latin has been taught in our Junior School since 2019 and has now been on the Senior School timetable for three years. We continue to follow the well-resourced LEP curriculum and also have good support from Classics for All. Current Year 9 students will be the first cohort to be able to select Latin as a GCSE option. All Senior School students take Latin and French in Year 7 and then select one of these languages to continue to the end of KS3. Classes are mixed ability as we believe passionately that every student should have the opportunity to experience Latin.
Latin forms part of our energetic and exciting Humanities Faculty, comprising of a team of professionals who work together and support each other. The staff are all subject specialists and are passionate about what they teach and about achieving excellent results. Student outcomes are good and we are looking to add further strength to this team. The faculty is ambitious and forward looking and strives to ensure that every student excels.
The successful candidate will be a reflective practitioner who is able to maximise the potential of all our pupils. They will use teaching and assessment effectively to ensure that all pupils know, remember and can apply key knowledge and skills. We are also looking for a colleague who can make a contribution to the wider life of the school, through extra-curricular clubs, trips and visits – especially those which help to ignite a love of Latin and the classical world in our students.
