Are you looking for a rewarding role that offers work-life balance and the chance to make a real difference in your local community? Darlington Borough Council is seeking to appoint an LGV Driver to join our Environmental Services Division in the Waste Collection Service.
Working a 4-day working week totalling 74 hours over a 2-week period, our collection services typically operate Tuesday to Friday, starting daily at 7:00am. This is a fantastic opportunity to work for a small, community-focused local authority, where our contained rounds cover small geographical areas, making your day manageable and locally impactful. With limited travel and familiarity, you’ll build a strong connection to the community you serve. Occasional work on Mondays, Saturdays, Sundays, and bank holidays will be required to meet service demands and are regarded as compulsory overtime.
The role includes:
- Driving a range of vehicles requiring a Class 2 LGV licence, including those used for domestic waste, recycling, garden waste, food waste, and trade waste collections.
- Carrying out daily vehicle checks and maintaining vehicles in a clean and safe condition.
- Taking responsibility for the service provided, including allocating tasks to team members and liaising with support teams and customers.
- Completing all required documentation in line with Council and legal standards.
- Undertaking a range of waste-related tasks when required, including waste operative duties.
Requirements: You will need a customer-focused approach with a Cat C LGV Driving Licence and a current Driver CPC Card.
