Caretaker

Band 4 (SCP 6) – £23,894 FTE per annum

30 hours per week (full time, whole year) – Split shift 6 am‑9 am and 2.30 pm‑5.30 pm, hours flexible to meet school needs.

About the Role

Red Hall Primary wishes to appoint a suitably skilled, experienced, enthusiastic, caring and motivated Caretaker to work under the direction of our School Office Manager and Head Teacher.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain school facilities to the highest possible standard, performing maintenance and repair tasks indoors and outdoors.
• Clean duties and support the cleaning staff team.
• Prioritise jobs to ensure safety is key.
• Engage well with children and form good relationships when around school.
• Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly statutory checks (fire alarm, legionella, emergency lighting, etc.).
• Painting and decoration, plumbing, minor repairs and other maintenance tasks, including cleaning of the school and upkeep of the school grounds.
• Be committed to keeping the school community safe.

Qualifications & Skills

• Experience of maintenance and handyperson duties.
• Experience of cleaning duties and ability to work with a team.
• Reliability, pride in appearance, and commitment to safety.
• Proactive approach to tasks.
