The Darktrace Active AI Security Platform™ delivers a proactive approach to cyber resilience to secure the business across the entire digital estate – from network to cloud to email.
This is a hybrid role, with a compulsory attendance of 2 days a week in the Cambridge office.
What will I be doing:
In this role, you’ll be working at the intersection of security research and cutting-edge generative AI. As a Security Researcher focused on AI systems, you’ll play a key part in shaping how agentic workflows are explored, prototyped, and ultimately brought to life within the Darktrace product ecosystem. This is an open-ended and research-driven position, giving you the opportunity to experiment, innovate, and influence how AI capabilities translate into real-world customer value.
You’ll be expected to combine a strong understanding of the Darktrace product stack with curiosity and initiative, identifying new opportunities where agentic systems can enhance existing capabilities or unlock entirely new ones. Collaboration will also be central to your work, as you engage with cross-functional teams including product, engineering, and machine learning specialists to take ideas from concept through to prototype.
Alongside this, you will maintain and deepen your expertise through ongoing research projects, ensuring you stay at the forefront of developments in both AI and security.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Researching product use cases that could benefit from agentic workflows,
- Designing and prototyping agentic systems to improve customer value and experience,
- Co-ordinating with relevant development, product, machine learning teams and other business stakeholders,
- Maintaining strong product knowledge via open-ended research projects.
What experience do I need:
We’re looking for someone who combines practical experience with a curiosity for emerging AI capabilities and how they intersect with cyber security. You should be comfortable working in dynamic, fast-evolving environments where you can apply logical thinking to unfamiliar problems and contribute to shaping new approaches. Experience with the Darktrace product suite will be particularly valuable, alongside an interest in how agentic workflows can be designed and applied to enhance both security outcomes and customer value.
You’ll also need to be an effective communicator, able to clearly articulate complex technical concepts to a wide range of stakeholders, while maintaining a strong analytical mindset and attention to detail.
Benefits:
- 23 days’ holiday + all public holidays, rising to 25 days after 2 years of service,
- Additional day off for your birthday,
- Private medical insurance which covers you, your cohabiting partner and children,
- Life insurance of 4 times your base salary,
- Salary sacrifice pension scheme,
