The IT Operations Administrator plays a critical role in supporting the daily operations of the IT department, streamlining service tickets, maintaining accurate documentation, and producing reports to support decision-making and continuous improvement across IT services.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and update IT operational documentation such as standard operating procedures (SOPs), runbooks, and configuration records; ensure documentation is standardised, accessible, and compliant with relevant requirements.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to capture institutional knowledge and conduct periodic reviews to ensure documentation remains accurate and relevant.
  • Contribute to report writing and dashboard analytics to support data-driven decision-making across the organisation.
  • Generate regular and ad-hoc reports on system performance, incident trends, and service metrics.
  • Analyse ticket data to identify recurring issues and recommend process improvements to IT leadership.
  • Ticket orchestration and service management; act as a liaison between technical teams to facilitate effective communication.

Please note you will be required to be in the Cambridge office for a minimum of 3 days per week.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in IT operations, service desk, or systems administration.
  • Strong proficiency with documentation tools such as SharePoint and familiarity with ITSM platforms like Freshservice.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; analytical mindset and attention to detail.
  • An ITIL certification or equivalent knowledge is desirable.
