As Darktrace accelerates global growth and connectivity across the business, Enterprise Architecture becomes mission critical. The Vice President of Enterprise Architecture (VP, EA) is a senior technology executive responsible for defining, governing, and advancing the company’s enterprise architecture vision across business, data, application, and technology domains. Reporting to the CIO, this role ensures that technology investments align with business strategy, accelerate digital transformation, improve operational efficiency, and enable scalable, secure, and resilient platforms across the enterprise.

The VP, EA serves as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, business unit heads, and technology leaders, translating business strategy into architectural roadmaps and standards that drive measurable business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enterprise Architecture Strategy & Governance: Define and continuously evolve the enterprise architecture vision, principles, standards, and roadmaps aligned to corporate strategy. Establish and lead enterprise architecture governance, ensuring consistent architectural decision-making across portfolios and programs. Balance innovation with standardization, enabling speed while maintaining architectural integrity, resilience, and security. Provide architectural guidance for major business initiatives, mergers and acquisitions, and large-scale transformation programs.
  • Business & Technology Alignment: Partner with executive leaders and business stakeholders to translate business strategy into actionable technology architectures. Serve as a trusted advisor to the CIO and executive leadership on emerging technologies, industry trends, and architectural trade-offs. Ensure technology platforms support scalability, customer experience, regulatory requirements, and operational efficiency.
  • Architecture Leadership: Oversee architecture across key domains, including: Business and process architecture; Application and integration architecture; Data, analytics, and AI architecture; Cloud, infrastructure, and platform architecture; Security and resilience architecture. Drive simplification and modernization of the application and technology portfolio, reducing technical debt and improving time-to-value. Champion best practices in cloud-native design, APIs, microservices, data platforms, and emerging technologies.
  • Portfolio & Investment Enablement: Guide application, data, and infrastructure rationalization to reduce complexity and technical debt. Support technology investment planning by evaluating architectural fit, long-term value, and risk. Collaborate with PMO and product organizations to ensure architectural alignment across delivery portfolios. Establish metrics to measure architectural effectiveness, technology health, and contribution to business outcomes. Communicate architectural decisions, trade-offs, and value to executive stakeholders in clear, business-focused terms.
  • Operating Model & Team Leadership: Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing enterprise architecture organization with deep technical expertise and strong business acumen. Define clear engagement models between enterprise architecture, delivery teams, and business stakeholders. Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in enterprise architecture, technology strategy, or senior IT leadership roles.
  • 7+ years leading enterprise-scale architecture teams in complex, multi-business or global organizations.
  • Demonstrated success influencing executive stakeholders and driving enterprise-wide transformation initiatives.
  • Deep understanding of enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF) and modern architectural practices.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud platforms, data and analytics ecosystems, integration patterns, cybersecurity, and enterprise systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field required.
