Role Overview
We are seeking a talented and driven Head Chef to lead our kitchen. This role combines hands-on cooking with leadership, menu development, and operational responsibility. You will shape the culinary direction of the restaurant while maintaining high standards of quality, efficiency, and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Kitchen Leadership
- Lead, inspire, and develop the kitchen team
- Create a positive, professional, and inclusive working environment
- Manage rotas, staffing levels, and team performance
- Food & Menu Development
- Design and deliver seasonal, innovative menus aligned with the restaurant's concept
- Source high-quality ingredients, prioritising local and sustainable suppliers
- Continuously refine dishes based on feedback and creativity
- Operations & Standards
- Ensure consistent quality, presentation, and portion control
- Maintain high standards of food hygiene and safety (in line with UK regulations)
- Oversee stock control, ordering, and waste management
- Manage kitchen budgets and food cost targets
- Service
- Work closely with front-of-house to ensure smooth service
- Maintain calm, organised kitchen operations during busy periods
- Be present and hands-on during service
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef in a similar environment
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Passion for seasonal, ingredient-led cooking
- Solid understanding of kitchen financials (GP, cost control, margins)
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Food Hygiene Level 3
