Job description

The Senior Lead Practitioners primary role is to ensure the quality of provision for by supporting Mental Health & Wellbeing Practitioners to plan and deliver child-centred support, monitoring progress and outcomes. This pivotal role assists the Regional SEND Lead in the coordination of services available, liaising with all professionals involved and ensuring all documented plans are adhered to. The post holder will provide line management support to ensure The Dare2Dream Foundation delivers an exceptional, quality service for our service users.


This is a field based role supporting Mental Health & Wellbeing Practitioner’s, working closely with the Regional SEND Coordinator. This role is central to ensuring quality of sessions and reporting is maintained throughout the regional staff team.

This role will support the foundation's mission of enhancing the wellbeing and life opportunities of children and young people by providing bespoke, social and emotional support whilst working in partnership with local authorities, schools and like minded community organisations.

This role requires a certain degree of autonomy, therefore an organised approach that is child centred is needed.

This role will champion The Dare2Dream Foundation core values and will actively market the services the foundation provides to the children and young people it supports.


SOUTH OXFORDSHIRE AND SURROUNDING AREAS - This post will usually involve travelling to multiple locations cross county, mainly between community settings and office locations. A flexible and friendly approach is required, as well as a full clean driving license, some travel expenses will be reimbursed.

Accountabilities and Main responsibilities of the role

  • Supporting the Regional SEND Coordinator in the delivery of the organisation wide approach.
  • Provide line management support to the regional team
  • Attend team meetings as required and contribute to the initiation, development and implementation of new responses to changing needs and demands upon the team
  • Contribute, where appropriate, to service development and multi-agency working with our partners - to lead on organisation wide initiatives and assist with the day-to-day management of the service.
  • To be able to assess needs and support MHWPs in developing plans to support children and young people with SEMH / SEND needs.
  • Undertake and record accurate assessments of risk
  • Lead and coordinate mental health and wellbeing initiatives.
  • Support staff to develop and implement preventative intervention programs to enhance overall wellbeing of children and young people within the service.
  • Provide support to practitioners on planning and delivering effective interventions.
  • Conduct one-to-one outreach sessions with children and young people, addressing their specific needs and goals.
  • Provide support, guidance, and mentorship to help them overcome challenges and develop life skills.
  • Develop and implement individualised plans to assist each child in achieving their goals.
  • Build positive relationships with the children and their families or caregivers.
  • Monitor and document progress, ensuring that outcomes are met and reported as necessary.
  • Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
  • Stay up-to-date on best practices and trends in supporting children and young people with SEND / Mental Health

Safeguarding and Child Protection

  • To ensure that policies and procedures are complied with and to contribute to any updating as required
  • To complete regular safeguarding training and update to Designated Safeguarding Training as required.
  • To follow reporting procedures to ensure the child’s/young person’s welfare is always paramount.
  • To report Safeguarding concerns as per the policy.

Management and Development

  • To ensure compliance with regulatory and Dare2Dream’s policies and procedures with particular regard to Child Protection, Equal Opportunities and Health & Safety
  • To ensure the appropriate behaviour and conduct of any volunteers / support staff, their provision of quality care and their development
  • To contribute to staff and volunteer recruitment and training activities when required
  • To support the effective line management and development of a regional team of outreach practitioners
  • To ensure the monitoring of the assessment cycle for all young people and their outcomes
  • To ensure the training and development of all Practitioners and the monitoring of this through Case Supervision and Appraisals.

Service management

  • To attend meetings as required by the Regional SEND Lead Coordinator
  • To regularly meet with staff and have oversight of service provision
  • Support the planning, delivery and reporting for assigned team / region
  • To maintain records in keeping with Dare2Dream’s Quality Assurance Policy
  • To ensure that all records are kept confidentially
  • To manage and keep accurate records of Dare2Dream’s delivery and resources using applicable information systems.

General

  • To promote equal opportunities and an open approach in all areas of work bearing in mind the need to maintain appropriate confidentiality at all times
  • To provide feedback to the Regional SEND Coordinators

Job related Experience, Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience of working within a similar role
  • Experience of the Special Educational Needs Code of Practice as well as the Children and Families Act.
  • Experience of working with Education Health and Care Plans and attendance at meetings such as Child in Need, Annual Reviews and Team around the Family Meetings.
  • Experience of working with children/young people and all surrounding professionals
  • Qualification in a relevant field
  • Demonstrate suitability to work with children and an understanding of working with children in need, including children in need of emotional and therapeutic support
  • Ability to influence and negotiate with other professionals and partner organisations
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to confidently build and maintain relationships with all stakeholders
  • Knowledge of all safeguarding processes
  • Ability to multi-task and work using own initiative
  • The ability to maintain an accurate and confidential system of records within GDPR guidelines
  • A full clean driving licence with the ability to travel across the county and further if required
  • A strong desire to support and enhance the lives of vulnerable children and young people
  • A strong desire to support and develop a team of outreach practitioners


Additional Information

  • Permanent role
  • 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm, flexibility required
