We are recruiting for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a delivery‑focused construction business with a strong groundworks and subcontracting bias. This is a senior, hands‑on role with real ownership of the commercial performance of multiple live projects. The successful Senior Quantity Surveyor will work closely with Project Managers, finance and operational teams to protect margin, control risk and drive profitability from project start through to final account. This role will suit someone confident across NEC and JCT contracts who can balance strong client relationships with firm commercial discipline.

The Role

  • Lead the commercial function across multiple live construction projects
  • Take ownership of project profitability and financial performance
  • Work closely with Project Managers to keep projects commercially controlled
  • Identify, notify, price and submit variations following change events
  • Maintain live variation trackers across all projects
  • Manage Applications for Payment in line with contract deadlines and month‑end procedures
  • Track valuation dates, payment notices and invoice requirements
  • Manage retentions and ensure release applications are submitted on time
  • Issue and follow up commercial correspondence to protect entitlement
  • Support procurement and commercial management of subcontractor packages
  • Produce monthly CVRs and weekly commercial reports
  • Maintain accurate records, attend client and site meetings, and support strong stakeholder relationships

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, Senior Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager
  • Strong construction sector background with groundworks experience essential
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC and JCT contracts
  • Experience managing variations, valuations, retentions, applications for payment and CVRs
  • Able to work closely with operational teams to improve project performance
  • Commercially assertive, organised and detail‑focused
  • Full clean driving licence
