The Role
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Clerk of Works / Quality Inspector to provide short-term site cover on a live construction project in Kettering, Northamptonshire. This is a hands-on, site-based role focused on quality assurance, compliance, and build standards, with the potential for the contract to be extended beyond the initial two weeks. The successful Clerk of Works will work closely with site teams and consultants to ensure works are delivered in line with drawings, specifications, and current building regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out quality inspections across all stages of construction
- Identify, report, and track defects and snags
- Review works against drawings, specifications, and building regulations
- Attend site meetings and provide technical input where required
- Monitor workmanship and materials to ensure compliance with standards
- Check fire stopping works and overall compliance (preferred)
- Produce regular progress and quality reports
- Support the project team by highlighting potential future build issues
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Clerk of Works, Quality Inspector, or similar role
- Valid CSCS card
- Membership or accreditation with ICW, CIOB, or equivalent (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of UK building regulations and quality standards
- Experience inspecting fire stopping works (preferred)
- Ability to work independently and hit the ground running
