Key responsibilities:

  • Prepare cost plans, estimates, benchmarking and feasibility budgets.
  • Produce cost reports, forecasts, cost-to-complete updates and cashflows.
  • Support programme reporting, risk and opportunity tracking, and clear audit trails.
  • Support and manage tender processes, including documentation, tender analysis, levelling, recommendations and award reporting.
  • Manage valuations, payment processes and contractor / supplier commercial performance where required.
  • Assess variations and change, maintain change logs and support robust approval processes.
  • Provide clear commercial advice, substantiation and options to client stakeholders.
  • Attend and lead project meetings where required, presenting cost and commercial updates clearly.
  • Build effective working relationships with clients, consultants, contractors and internal teams.
  • Work within client templates, governance structures, reporting requirements and commercial controls.
  • Maintain high standards of accuracy, consistency and professional best practice.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Quantity Surveyor with 3+ years’ relevant experience.
  • Consultancy / PQS or client-side cost management background.
  • Experience working on construction projects, ideally across commercial, industrial, logistics, warehouse or distribution environments.
  • Strong cost planning, reporting, forecasting, procurement, change control, valuation and final account capability.
  • Confident working directly with client stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in reporting.
  • Strong Excel and cost reporting capability.
  • Able to manage multiple live tasks and take ownership with limited supervision.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, client-led environment with changing priorities.

Desirable / nice-to-have background:

  • MRICS or currently working towards MRICS / APC.
  • Experience across multi-site, high-volume or programme-based works.
  • Experience in new build, refurbishment, remodelling or live-environment projects.
  • Familiarity with client-side governance, reporting and commercial controls.
  • Background in distribution centres, logistics, warehouses, industrial or commercial estate projects.

About the employer / environment: You will be working on a major national programme across a UK and ROI distribution centre portfolio. The environment is client-led, fast-paced and commercially detailed, with regular interaction across client stakeholders, consultants, contractors and internal delivery teams.

Best-Fit Candidates: This role is likely to suit Quantity Surveyors coming from PQS, cost consultancy, client-side estates, programme management consultancy or construction advisory backgrounds. Strong candidate pools may include people who have worked across logistics, industrial, distribution centres, warehousing, retail roll-out, commercial refurbishment, infrastructure-linked property, live estate works, data centres or multi-site capital programmes.
