Projects across Essex & Cambridgeshire | Site-based | Permanent opportunity
£70,000–£75,000 depending on experience + vehicle
Know groundworks from the tools up? Make your next move a long-term one. Take ownership of day-to-day site delivery with a contractor looking to retain and develop its site leaders, not simply cover the next project.
The opportunity
DARA People is recruiting for an established groundworks and civil engineering contractor delivering predominantly education projects , alongside commercial and specialist civils schemes.
This is a role for someone who understands the work, can organise the people delivering it and keeps the paperwork under control. You’ll lead from the front, spot problems early and keep the site running safely and efficiently.
What you’ll manage
- People and resources: plan daily works, direct gangs and subcontractors, and coordinate labour, plant and materials.
- Delivery and standards: interpret drawings, check work against specifications and maintain safety and quality.
- Progress and records: resolve practical problems, keep work moving and maintain accurate site records and paperwork.
What you’ll bring
A strong groundworks or civil engineering background , with proven experience delivering projects as a Site Manager or General Foreman.
You’ll be confident organising site teams, reading drawings and making practical decisions. Site administration and everyday IT are part of the role , alongside hands‑on knowledge of how the work should be delivered.
Preferred background:
progression from the tools into supervision or site management. Practical understanding matters—not just the job title.
A long‑term move
A direct permanent appointment is available. The contractor will also consider an initial agency engagement with a view to joining the business, with those terms agreed separately.
Best‑fit candidates
Groundworks Site Managers, Civils Site Managers and General Foremen from groundworks or civil engineering contractors and specialist subcontractors. Experienced Groundworks Supervisors with evidence of managing full site delivery may also be relevant.
