Lead the architectural and fire-safety decisions behind complex, mission-critical data centre developments

This is a senior technical role for an architect or design lead who can challenge consultants, resolve complex design issues and make commercially sound decisions across full data centre campuses.

About the role

You will provide architectural and fire-safety leadership across buildings, mechanical and electrical yards, and the wider campus environment.

Working with internal design teams, A/E consultants, engineers, project managers, construction managers and contractors, you will review designs against global standards, regional requirements, programme, cost and buildability.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead architectural and fire-safety design reviews across data centre campus projects.
  • Direct and challenge external architectural and engineering consultants.
  • Peer-review drawings, specifications, calculations, BIM models and design narratives.
  • Assess proposals against global standards, regional suitability, cost and business impact.
  • Identify value-engineering opportunities without compromising safety or performance.
  • Manage technical comments and written responses through internal systems.
  • Escalate design issues affecting programme, cost or delivery.
  • Produce design-review reports, option studies and impact assessments.
  • Develop conceptual CAD or BIM sketches for spatial validation.
  • Prepare engineering bulletins, presentations, trackers and specification updates.

Requirements

  • Strong architectural design and technical leadership experience.
  • Proven experience reviewing complex multidisciplinary design packages.
  • Detailed knowledge of fire-safety design within large-scale or technically demanding projects.
  • Ability to assess design recommendations from technical, commercial and programme perspectives.
  • Experience working with architects, engineers, contractors and senior project stakeholders.
  • Confident written communication and technical presentation skills.
  • Working knowledge of CAD, BIM and digital document-management platforms.
