A leading international, multidisciplinary consultant with offices in London and throughout the Middle East and Africa, is seeking to recruit a Management-level Transport Planner or Transport Economist to work in its London office. Though the post is based in London, there may be opportunities for travel and work outside the UK.
The candidate is likely to have considerable experience of working in a multi-disciplinary environment. The role will involve:
- Participating in the Transportation Department’s workload of mainly international projects, predominately within the Middle East and Africa, but also beyond.
- Preparation of commercial bid proposals, as required.
- Acting as project manager and running projects led by the department, or may act as group leader and coordinate the transportation team in projects led by other disciplines.
- Maintaining liaison and providing technical support to other departments, area offices, and project sites as required.
- Interacting with Client representatives through meetings and presentations to represent the company’s interests.
- Ensuring the Company’s QA system is applied at all times.
- Monitoring of work produced by others within and external to the Transportation Department in the process of preparing reports and documentation for issue.
- Coordinating project details with Seniors.
- Overseeing deliverables and ensuring that they are submitted on time and to the highest quality.
Candidates should have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Transport, Economics or a related field, or an equivalent combination of experience and education. MSc. would be beneficial.
- Demonstrated experience in managing projects and people.
- Specific expertise in any of the following fields: Transport demand forecasts (including road, rail, ports), Transport appraisal (both economic and financial), HDM-4 and other World Bank approved transport economic evaluation software would be beneficial.
- Excellent writing, communication and presentation skills.
- Fluent written and spoken English and have good report writing abilities. Knowledge of a second language would be a bonus.
- Flexibility, adaptability and the ability to work well under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Working experience of overseas projects is required.
Candidates may be expected to travel overseas at short notice for short and longer-term assignments.
