Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Airport/Airfield Design Engineer with 5 to 15 years of experience in the design of airports and airfields. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of international aviation standards and have a proven track record in airport layout development and geometric design.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop airport layouts, including runways, aprons, taxiways, aircraft stands, and landside/airside roads, utilizing Civil3D software.
- Ensure compliance with International Civil Aviation Standards and Recommended Practices (ICAO SARPs), Airport Council International (ACI), International Air Transport Association (IATA) guidelines, and other relevant regulations (FAA, EASA).
- Conduct Aviplan simulations for fillet design, aircraft approach paths, and taxiing procedures, ensuring safe and efficient operations.
- Coordinate the placement of airport buildings and facilities, considering their functions and relationships with airfield elements.
- Design apron areas, including the placement of services, passenger boarding bridges, and Ground Support Equipment (GSE) operations.
- Implement and construct obstacle limitation surfaces in facility design.
- Collaborate with other disciplines on stormwater drainage, utilities, electrical systems, and jet fuel hydrant networks.
- Prepare detailed design drawings, specifications, bills of quantities, calculation sheets, cost estimates, and design reports.
- Gather and analyze data, prepare technical documents, and participate in client meetings and presentations.
- Lead and mentor junior staff, planning and reviewing their work to ensure high performance.
- Develop and maintain effective communication and relationships with airport authorities and stakeholders.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering; a Master’s degree in Airports is desirable.
- Minimum 5 to 15 years of relevant experience in airport and airfield design.
- In-depth knowledge of international codes and standards, including AASHTO and Middle East Road standards.
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to supervise and guide junior team members.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
