WHAT DOES THE ROLE LOOK LIKE?

The Data Analytics and Insights team at Danske Bank provides cutting-edge data reporting, analytics and AI services across the bank. Reporting to the Data and Analytics Development Manager and BI Development Manager, you’ll be the subject matter expert, leading the technical development and execution of strategic data analytics projects.

WHAT YOU’LL DO Including but not limited to:

  • Provide expertise aligning to SFIA level 6, in two or more of the following Analytical tools; Python, Alteryx, QlikSense, Tableau, SSRS or similar.
  • Implement our self-serve strategy in Data & Analytics by designing innovative data models and delivering reusable data products.
  • Elevate the technical skills of the Data & Analytics team by offering top-tier standards, mentorship and coaching.
  • In collaboration with the D&A Development Manager, design and implement the technology strategy for analytics; including transition to cloud and recommendations for cloud technologies.
  • Actively seek out new reporting technologies, including those focused on AI, and form partnerships to advance both short- and long-term data strategies.
  • Provide technical leadership for key strategic projects that improve data availability and quality, and provide reliable access to data for the rest of Danske Bank UK.
  • Collaborate with Danske Bank Group analytics teams, leveraging and adapting Group solutions.
  • Lead agile project teams including; engineers, product owners, and data analysts to understand data needs.
  • Work in partnership with the wider Danske Bank business functions to ensure a reliable and unified source of information and truth for all.
  • Ensure customers are provided with advice and service compliant with all existing legal, regulatory and voluntary code obligations, and all Bank standards, policies, processes and procedures.
  • Drive increased maturity of analytics products and development process, as well as increased adoption of self-service data products, ensuring timely and accurate insights are available to wider business units.
  • Actively support business analysts within planning meetings and maintaining a continuous backlog.
  • Foster environment of continuous improvement, dedicating time to own growth and skill levels to ensure they match the requirements of the role.
  • Deliver tasks at pace and to a high standard whilst ensuring projects deliver or enable business benefit on an ongoing basis.
  • Demonstrate ability to think logically, a high level of numeracy and the ability to interpret data.

WHAT SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE WILL YOU NEED?

Essential:

  • 5+ years hands-on experience as an Analytics Engineer with strong knowledge in designing, developing, and delivering end-to-end data analytics projects.
  • Ability to design reusable and sustainable data models that produce key strategic business insights.
  • SME level knowledge of at least 2 BI analytical applications such as Tableau, Alteryx, QlikSense, SSRS or similar.
  • Experience of design, development and deployment of data warehouses or relational/analytical/multi-dimensional data marts.
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent planning and organising skills to meet tight deadlines, coupled with a strong service delivery ethic focused on quality, competency and accuracy.
  • Excellent communicator who is able to translate and adapt message for different stakeholder groups, including technical and non-technical audiences.

Preferred:

  • 3rd Level degree in IT or related STEM discipline.
  • Good working knowledge of Python.
  • Experience with Hadoop and Spark.
  • 1+ years’ experience with IBM DataStage.
  • Knowledge of cloud technologies such as AWS, data bricks, snowflake.
