Role and responsibilities
You will be accountable for the solution architecture of complex, multi-team initiatives, ensuring designs are fit for purpose, secure, scalable and cost effective; translating business outcomes into target architectures, roadmaps and designs that engineering teams can deliver; and providing hands-on technical leadership across discovery, design, build, test and operate.
- Own the end-to-end solution design across applications, integration, data, security, infrastructure and operations.
- Understand the business domain and design solutions to meet both short-term and long-term business needs, that integrate seamlessly with existing systems, bridging the communication between the business and technical domains.
- Produce and maintain solution artefacts such as context diagrams, logical and physical designs, APIs, integration contracts, infrastructure topology and non-functional requirements.
- Partner with product, engineering, security, infrastructure and data colleagues to shape delivery plans and architecture roadmaps.
- Ensure alignment with enterprise standards, reference architectures and guardrails.
- Govern solution integrity through delivery, supporting design reviews, readiness assessments and architectural assurance.
- Contribute to technology strategies, roadmaps and standards, and lead spikes or proofs of concept where needed.
- Stay informed about emerging technologies and industry trends to recommend and implement innovative solutions that enhance business capabilities and competitive advantage.
Your areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most for this role:
- Relevant 3rd level qualification in IT or other related STEM discipline (Bachelors, Masters).
- Proven track record designing and transforming large-scale solutions in complex organisations.
- Demonstrate systems thinking, with the ability to simplify complexity and communicate clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong hands-on software development experience, with the ability to guide and mentor teams by example.
- Experience with structured modelling and documentation of architecture, such as ArchiMate, C4 or UML.
Our belief is that we are “Better when Together” and want to balance the benefits of teaming up in person with flexible working where possible. We will be supportive and flexible to your circumstances, so for roles that offer a hybrid option we ask colleagues to attend their base location a minimum of 3 days a week so they can connect, collaborate and learn together. The other 2 days can be worked either from home or another bank location. Some of our roles are customer facing which means that it’s really important to be able to work with customers face to face and hybrid working isn’t appropriate.
If this sounds good to you, we’d love to hear from you. Apply by uploading your CV ensuring you have included enough detail to clearly demonstrate how you meet our criteria.
If you have a disability, long term health condition or additional need that requires accommodation or adjustments during any stage of the recruitment process, please advise us of this on your CV & a member of the team will be in touch to discuss!
