Danos have been exclusively mandated on a unique Director level legal counsel search for a global real estate investment firm. The General Counsel, who has operated in a standalone capacity for over a decade, is looking to make a senior hire to provide significant operational and legal coverage. With the General Counsel beginning to transition into a more strategic facing position, the role carries the weight and breadth of a standalone GC function: you would be the senior legal presence across the London office, with genuine autonomy and ownership from day one. It’s the kind of position that suits someone who thrives without a large team around them and is confident running a broad mandate independently.
Responsibilities:
- Working in conjunction with the General Counsel and senior business leaders across various regions and business lines to achieve key business objectives and support the company’s portfolio of real estate assets.
- Draft, negotiate, manage, and oversee transactions concerning joint venture agreements, loan documents and purchase and sale agreements.
- Support and collaborate with an internal and external multi-disciplinary team of professionals to manage transactions towards timely successful completion.
- Assist in the administration of contracts and instituting compliance measures in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.
- Assist and support the regional business teams in negotiating and managing legal documents for an assigned portfolio of assets.
- Oversee, direct, and manage teams of external counsel on various legal matters.
- Assist in the scaling of the firm’s continued growth.
Skills & Qualifications:
- 7+ years' PQE in a relevant law firm and/or in-house real estate experience.
- Demonstrated track record of successfully managing complex real estate transactions to completion.
- Strong planning and organisational skills with the ability to execute to meet deadlines; attention to detail is critical with an eye towards the larger team/company goals.
- Ability to make decisions and operate independently with respect to complex real estate transactions, including analysing complicated issues and assessing risks.
