A global financial services company is seeking a Managing Director and Deputy General Counsel to act as the organisation’s principal legal adviser on labour and employment across all regions outside the United States. The role leads the international employment law function, partnering closely with global HR and senior management to ensure the company’s workforce strategy is executed effectively and compliantly across EMEA and the East.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise on senior executive matters, including sensitive leadership moves and complex organisational changes.
  • Develop and oversee international labour and employment strategy, including TUPE, industrial relations, and multi-jurisdictional compliance.
  • Lead internal investigations and manage crisis-related employment issues across multiple regions.
  • Provide specialist expertise in jurisdictions across the Middle East and Asia-Pacific.
  • Support international mobility and cross-border staffing, collaborating with Tax and Finance on associated risks.
  • Manage external counsel relationships and associated legal budgets.

Requirements

  • Qualified solicitor (England & Wales or equivalent).
  • Ideally a minimum of 10 years’ PQE from a leading investment bank, asset manager or global business.
  • Strong command of UK employment law, including Employment Tribunal processes and SMCR.
  • Demonstrated experience advising across the Middle East and Asia-Pacific.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to distil complex legal issues for senior stakeholders.
