An international healthcare business that specialises in cancer treatment is seeking to hire its first lawyer in the UK, as Head of Legal.

\\n\\n

The organisation is a PE backed international organisation that has been growing exponentially in the last few years. Through various acquisitions and joint venture arrangements, the business has taken a lead on cancer treatment globally and is challenging the situation of cancer healthcare across Europe, with a particular focus on the UK to improve treatments.

\\n\\n

With a dual reporting line to the Global GC and the UK CEO, this is a brand new role in a semi startup environment. The private equity backing has secured the future of the business, but the day to day feels like this is a start up business. Therefore the role will be broad and all encompassing for the Head of Legal; responsible for the full suite of legal issues and advising the senior management. Naturally there will be a wide range of commercial work and advising on various agreements, but there will also be a significant amount of corporate activity, especially M&A and JV related work. There will be ad hoc matters relating to real estate, employment and you will manage and work closely with external law firms, when required.

Candidate Requirements

\\n\\n
    \\n\\t
  • You will be an experienced solicitor with UK experience, who has ideally worked in house within a similar environment. Solicitors from private practice will be considered, but it is hoped that you will have had experience on secondment or have been a trusted adviser.
  • \\n\\t
  • Ideally exposure to the healthcare / life sciences sector would be advantageous, but is not an absolute requirement.
  • \\n\\t
  • You should have broad corporate and commercial knowledge and demonstrable experience M&A matters and JVs together with wider commercial contracts (drafting and negotiating on.
  • \\n\\t
  • The role will cover Data Protection matters and knowledge in this area would also be useful.
  • \\n\\t
  • The main requirement is a can do attitude, operating autonomously, in a growing dynamic business that still requires process and procedures to be implemented.
  • \\n\\t
  • Your personality and ability to work with a wide range of people will be your biggest asset.
  • \\n
\\n\\n

This a fantastic opportunity not only to lead a UK legal department,

\\n\\n

but to be part of a company changing the landscape with care treatment and care.
