The Medical Science Liaison sits within the Paediatric Medical Affairs team with responsibility for delivering the field based medical affairs plan across the preterm category. The key objective of the Medical Science Liaison is to drive engagement with relevant science and evidence, establish Nutricia as a credible partner in preterm through strategic Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and Health Care Professional (HCP) engagement, and lead in external facing medical affairs activities, in line with category and business objectives.
Key Accountabilities
- Contributes to strategy by analysing trends in clinical practice, evidence, science, publications and the external environment to inform tangible insights, as well as ensuring own continuous professional development.
- Network and build relationships with key decision makers, KOLs, rising stars and influencers in paediatrics, in collaboration with internal stakeholders e.g. Medical Affairs, Solutions, Contracts and Healthcare Development teams.
- Build lasting relationships and partnerships with key healthcare professionals at a local, regional and national level.
- Devise and execute strategic KOL plans and utilise OCE to demonstrate performance against medical KPIs.
- Contribute ideas and execute novel initiatives to leverage new and existing evidence and relevant opportunities to support paediatrics and business objectives.
- Present accurate, clear and detailed scientific and clinical content for relevant stakeholders, both internal and external.
- Contribute to proactive internal and external communication of scientific evidence, use of products and services with appropriate HCPs, professional organisations, charities or groups.
- Proactively generate insights and tools from activity in the field and providing recommendations to inform category commercial and medical strategy.
This is a field based role and so national travel across the UK will be required.
About You
We'd like you to demonstrate the following key skills and attributes for this role:
- Ideally a degree in dietetics.
- Experience in medical affairs and/or paediatrics, especially neonatal nutrition, is highly desirable.
- High level of scientific and research expertise.
- Extensive experience in dietetics, with knowledge of paediatric nutrition and practical understanding of clinical dietetics.
- Understanding of the NHS healthcare and economic context and relevant stakeholders.
- Ability to understand and critically appraise scientific data, interpret and translate complex information to meet the needs of different audiences in a clear and impactful way.
- Ability to balance medical and commercial agenda.
- Ability to understand commercial KPIs and data.
- Able to engage and build new relationships internally to deliver medical plans and provide value across category teams.
- Willingness to travel nationally.
- High level attention to detail, strong written & verbal communication skills including excellent presentation skills.
