An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Design Manager to join a leading infrastructure contractor delivering a major rail accessibility and enhancement programme across the UK rail network. This role will support the successful delivery of multidisciplinary rail and station improvement projects within a complex live infrastructure environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and coordinating the design process from early concept through to construction and project completion. Working closely with project teams, consultants, subcontractors, and stakeholders, you will ensure all design deliverables are completed in line with programme requirements, industry standards, safety regulations, and client expectations.
You will play a key role in overseeing multidisciplinary design coordination, ensuring designs are practical, compliant, buildable, and aligned with operational and construction requirements. The position will involve managing technical reviews, design assurance activities, programme coordination, and stakeholder engagement across multiple concurrent projects.
Candidates should have strong experience operating as a Design Manager within rail infrastructure, civil engineering, or major construction environments. A strong understanding of design management processes, construction methodologies, stakeholder coordination, and infrastructure project delivery is essential.
The ideal applicant will possess excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to manage technical teams and maintain effective working relationships across all levels of project delivery.
