Danny Sullivan Group are currently looking for a Structural Steel Foreman for a large scale waste to energy build project in North London. Role is with a mechanical engineering specialist working on this project.
Role will see the successfully candidate supervising and coordinating the day to day steel erection and fabrication activities on this project. Ideal candidate would have strong track record managing steel erection works on power/waste to energy/large scale industrial build projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate a team of steel erectors, welders, riggers, and subcontractors on-site.
- Ensure all structural steel components are installed in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, and safety standards.
- Liaise with the Site Manager, Project Engineers, and other trades to ensure alignment with project schedule and sequencing.
- Conduct daily site briefings, toolbox talks, and enforce health & safety procedures.
- Monitor progress and productivity, report on daily activities, and address any issues affecting timelines.
- Maintain quality control and ensure inspections and documentation (e.g., weld reports, bolt torques) are completed.
- Coordinate crane lifts and heavy rigging operations safely and effectively.
- Ensure all work meets relevant codes and standards, including BS EN and CDM Regulations.
- Mentor junior staff and maintain high team morale and discipline.
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 5+ years experience as a Foreman or Supervisor in structural steel erection, ideally on power stations or large industrial projects.
- Strong understanding of steel fabrication, installation, and connection methods.
- Valid SSSTS or SMSTS certification (essential).
- CSCS card (Gold or higher preferred).
- NVQ Level 3 (or higher) in Structural Steelwork or relevant discipline (preferred).
- Experience with heavy lifting operations and coordinating with crane teams.
- Excellent reading of technical drawings and erection plans.
- Strong leadership, communication, and team coordination skills.
- Commitment to health & safety and environmental standards.
