As part of our ongoing growth and continued success on the Water Framework, we are seeking a dedicated SHEQ Advisor to join our Birmingham-based team.
Role Overview: As a SHEQ Advisor, you will play a critical role in supporting and promoting a culture of health, safety, environmental awareness, and quality compliance across our Water Framework projects. Working alongside project teams, subcontractors, and client representatives, you will ensure all SHEQ standards are met or exceeded in line with legislation, company policy, and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide proactive support and guidance to project teams to ensure compliance with SHEQ policies and procedures.
- Conduct site inspections, audits, and incident investigations, and prepare associated reports with corrective and preventive action plans.
- Promote a positive SHEQ culture by leading toolbox talks, briefings, and training sessions.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and continual improvement of SHEQ management systems in line with ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 standards.
- Monitor subcontractor compliance and ensure all operatives are fully briefed and competent.
- Support the collation and analysis of SHEQ performance data, providing reports to internal stakeholders and clients.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislation and industry best practices and communicate relevant changes across the business.
- Assist in preparing for and responding to external audits and client assessments.
Requirements:
- NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate (or equivalent essential).
- Working knowledge of current SHEQ legislation and industry standards.
- Previous experience in a similar SHEQ role within the civil engineering or utilities sectors.
- Experience working on water infrastructure projects (e.g. for Severn Trent, Thames Water, Anglian Water, etc.) is highly desirable.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills – confident working with teams across all levels.
- Full UK driving licence – occasional travel to sites will be required.
Desirable:
- Membership of IOSH (TechIOSH or above).
- Internal auditing qualification (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001).
- CSCS card.
