We are currently seeking an experienced Sub Agent – Structures to join a major infrastructure project on the A47 road scheme England, working with a leading Tier One civil engineering contractor delivering large-scale infrastructure projects across the UK. This is a key position within the structures team, supporting the delivery and close-out of multiple reinforced concrete and highways structures packages. The successful candidate will act as the right-hand to the Senior Agent, playing a vital role in managing engineers, subcontractors and day-to-day site operations.
This opportunity offers exposure to a nationally significant highways scheme and the chance to work alongside an established contractor known for delivering complex infrastructure and major transport projects.
The Role
As Sub Agent you will take ownership of structures packages across the scheme, ensuring safe, efficient and high-quality delivery of works. Key responsibilities will include:
- Managing the delivery of highways structures including bridges, reinforced concrete elements, culverts and retaining walls
- Leading and supporting Site Engineers and Section Engineers
- Managing subcontractors delivering RC and structural packages
- Producing and reviewing RAMS, ITPs and temporary works documentation
- Short-term planning and coordination of site activities
- Ensuring works are delivered in line with quality, safety and programme requirements
- Supporting commercial teams with early warnings, variations and progress reporting
- Liaising with the client National Highways and wider project stakeholders
- Supporting the close-out of structures packages including quality documentation and handover
Requirements
We are looking for a strong Sub Agent or an experienced Senior Engineer ready to step up who can independently manage structures packages. The successful candidate will have:
- Proven experience delivering highways or major infrastructure structures
- Strong technical knowledge of reinforced concrete, bridge structures, culverts and retaining walls
- Experience managing engineers, subcontractors and site operations
- Good understanding of temporary works, quality processes and ITPs
- Experience working under NEC contracts
- A steady and consistent career history within civil engineering projects
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Ability to operate as a trusted second-in-command to the Senior Agent
