An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Estimator to join a leading Tier One Civil Engineering Contractor working on a major infrastructure project based in Manchester. This is your chance to play a key role in securing and delivering large-scale civil engineering works on a flagship project.

The Role

  • As an Estimator, you will be responsible for producing accurate, commercially competitive estimates while identifying opportunities to add value throughout the tender process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation of detailed estimates for major civil engineering works.
  • Review drawings, specifications, programmes and contract documentation.
  • Produce accurate cost plans and tender submissions.
  • Obtain and assess quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Carry out risk and opportunity assessments.
  • Develop value engineering solutions to improve project outcomes.
  • Liaise with commercial, engineering, planning and operational teams throughout the bid process.
  • Attend tender meetings, site visits and client presentations.
  • Prepare tender adjudication reports for senior management.
  • Maintain estimating databases and historical cost information.
  • Support negotiations with clients where required.
  • Ensure all estimates comply with NEC contract requirements and company procedures.

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous experience as an Estimator within civil engineering.
  • Experience working for a Tier One or Tier Two Main Contractor.
  • Strong background delivering estimates for major infrastructure projects.
  • Experience across sectors such as highways, utilities, water, rail or heavy civils.
  • Excellent working knowledge of NEC3 and NEC4 contracts.
  • Strong commercial awareness and analytical skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Office.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
