Mechanical Design Engineer Location: London Salary: £50,000 - £70,000 per annum Employer: Mechanical & Building Services Contractor Sector: Residential & Student Accommodation The Role We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join an established building services contractor delivering high-quality residential and student accommodation projects across London. This is an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer who wants to work on technically challenging projects from design development through to construction and completion. You will work closely with the project delivery team, consultants, subcontractors and clients to ensure mechanical designs are practical, coordinated and suitable for installation. Key Responsibilities Develop and deliver mechanical building services designs for residential and student accommodation projects. Design HVAC, heating, ventilation, cooling and domestic hot water systems. Produce mechanical calculations, specifications, drawings and technical documentation. Develop coordinated designs suitable for construction and installation. Work closely with project managers, site teams, consultants and subcontractors. Coordinate mechanical designs with electrical, public health, architectural and structural disciplines. Assist with design reviews, technical queries and design changes throughout the project lifecycle. Ensure designs meet relevant UK Building Regulations, standards and project requirements. Prepare and review technical submissions and design information. Attend project and design coordination meetings. Identify and resolve technical and coordination issues. Support projects through construction, commissioning and handover.About You Proven experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer within a building services contractor, MEP contractor or similar environment. Strong knowledge of mechanical building services, including HVAC, heating, ventilation, cooling and domestic hot water. Experience developing designs from concept through to detailed design and construction. Good understanding of UK Building Regulations and relevant mechanical services standards. Ability to produce accurate, practical and coordinated design information. Strong communication and coordination skills. Ability to work effectively with both design and construction teams. A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline is preferred, although relevant industry experience will also be considered.What We Offer £50,000 - £70,000 salary, depending on experience.
