We're working in partnership with a leading civil engineering contractor delivering works on the Sizewell C nuclear development. They are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their project team in Suffolk. This is a high-profile, long-term infrastructure scheme operating within a heavily regulated environment. The role requires a commercially strong individual with solid NEC contract experience and a background in complex civil engineering projects.
The Role
As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you'll take responsibility for managing all commercial aspects of allocated works from early-stage cost planning through to final account. You'll work closely with senior project staff, subcontractors and client representatives to ensure projects are commercially controlled, compliant and delivering value for money while maintaining required quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Commercial & Cost Management
- Full commercial management of designated work packages
- Production of robust Cost Plans and monthly CVRs
- Analysis of rates, prices and agreement of variations / compensation events
- Preparation and negotiation of claims where required
- Financial reporting and reconciliation to senior management
- Contract & NEC Administration
- Administration of NEC3 contracts (Options A, B and C)
- Management of change control, compensation events and risk
- Review and interpretation of complex contract programmes
- Support preparation of delay and disruption programmes
- Procurement & Supply Chain
- Subcontract procurement including tender analysis and negotiation
- Preparation of procurement programmes and strategy input
- Ongoing subcontract performance monitoring and cost control
- Project & Stakeholder Management
- Monitor subcontract activities and respond to commercial risks
- Manage commercial interface with client and key stakeholders
- Present commercial performance to regional and senior leadership
- Ensure compliance with internal governance and commercial procedures
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering
- Strong working knowledge of NEC3 (Options A, B & C)
- Experience delivering works within regulated or major infrastructure environments
- Ability to produce and present detailed cost plans and CVRs
- Experience managing or mentoring junior commercial staff
- Confident client-facing and commercially astute
Qualifications
- Degree / HND / HNC in Quantity Surveying or related discipline
- RICS membership (or working towards) desirable
- Valid CSCS card
- Full UK driving licence
