We are seeking a skilled and reliable Drainage/Pipelayer Gang of 3 to join our construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing and repairing underground pipelines, ensuring that all work complies with safety standards and project specifications. This role offers an opportunity to work on diverse projects, utilising a range of technical skills and equipment. The ideal applicant will have experience with excavation, welding, and mechanical systems, with a strong focus on safety and quality.
Responsibilities
- Lay and connect underground pipelines using appropriate techniques and tools
- Operate heavy machinery such as excavators to assist with trenching and pipeline installation
- Use hand tools and power tools to cut, weld, and assemble pipe sections
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to ensure accurate installation
- Perform welding tasks to join pipe sections securely, adhering to safety standards
- Conduct inspections of pipelines for leaks or defects during and after installation
- Assist with the maintenance and repair of pipelines as needed
- Follow all safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion of projects
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Pipelayer or in a similar role within the construction or utilities sector
- Proficiency in operating excavators, hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment
- Mechanical knowledge relevant to pipeline systems and installation processes
- Electrical experience is advantageous but not essential
- Strong understanding of safety procedures related to excavation and pipeline work
- Ability to read technical drawings and blueprints accurately
- Good physical condition with the ability to perform manual labour in various weather conditions
- Relevant certifications or training in welding, excavation machinery operation, or safety standards are preferred
