We are currently recruiting for an experienced Site Supervisor / Lift Supervisor to join a major rail infrastructure project based in Hindley, working with one of the UK’s leading Tier 1 construction and infrastructure contractors. This is an excellent opportunity to join a long-term, high-profile rail and civil engineering scheme delivering critical infrastructure upgrades across the North West rail network. The project involves extensive civil engineering works, structural upgrades, access improvements, rail-side construction activities, and complex lifting operations within live railway environments.

The successful candidate will play a key role in coordinating site activities, supervising subcontractors, maintaining safety standards, and ensuring works are delivered efficiently within strict rail compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervising day-to-day site operations on rail and civil engineering works
  • Managing subcontractors and workforce activities
  • Overseeing lifting operations and ensuring compliance with lift plans
  • Conducting site briefings, toolbox talks, and safety inspections
  • Ensuring works are delivered in line with programme and quality standards
  • Coordinating with engineers, managers, and rail personnel
  • Maintaining health & safety standards within live rail environments
  • Supporting delivery teams with documentation and reporting
Essential Requirements
  • Valid PTS (Personal Track Safety)
  • Valid CSCS Card
  • Lift Supervisor qualification
  • Previous experience on rail infrastructure or civil engineering projects
  • Strong understanding of health & safety procedures
  • Ability to lead teams and coordinate multiple work fronts
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
Desirable
  • SSSTS or SMSTS
  • Experience working on Network Rail projects
  • Temporary Works awareness
  • CPCS Appointed Person or Crane Supervisor (advantageous)
