Senior Engineer Location: Catterick Are you an experienced Senior Engineer looking to take the lead on major construction projects? We're working with a leading main contractor to recruit a talented Senior Engineer to join a high-performing project team in Catterick. This is an excellent opportunity to play a pivotal role in the successful delivery of complex construction projects, leading site engineering activities, mentoring engineers, and ensuring works are delivered safely, accurately, and to the highest quality standards. The Role As Senior Engineer, you'll be responsible for overseeing all engineering activities on site, providing technical leadership, and supporting the wider project team to deliver projects efficiently and to programme. Working closely with the Project Manager, commercial team, subcontractors and supply chain partners, you'll ensure engineering excellence throughout the project lifecycle while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality and compliance. Key Responsibilities * Lead and coordinate all site engineering activities. * Interpret technical drawings, specifications and survey information. * Oversee and verify all setting out activities for both above and below-ground works. * Mentor and support Site Engineers and junior engineering staff. * Monitor construction progress, quality and programme performance. * Identify and resolve engineering and technical issues on site. * Review subcontractor setting out and monitor engineering quality. * Report design discrepancies, survey issues and technical risks to the project team. * Support commercial teams with measurements, remeasures, valuations and subcontractor information. * Review method statements and ensure works are delivered in accordance with approved procedures. * Maintain accurate site records and engineering documentation. * Drive compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality standards. * Build strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and the wider project team. * Provide technical leadership and contribute to project planning and delivery strategies. About You You'll be an experienced construction professional with a strong technical background and a proven ability to lead engineering teams on site. You'll be confident making informed decisions, solving technical challenges, and ensuring projects are delivered to the highest standards. You'll ideally have: * HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction or Building Studies (or equivalent). * SMSTS qualification. * Valid CSCS Card. * First Aid qualification (desirable). * Significant experience working for a main contractor on major construction projects. * Excellent setting out and engineering knowledge. * Strong understanding of construction methods, quality assurance and health & safety legislation. * Proven leadership and mentoring experience. * Excellent communication, planning and organisational skills. * A proactive approach with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
