A leading infrastructure services provider is looking for an experienced Vegetation & Pest Control Operative to join their team delivering maintenance services across railway stations throughout South Essex.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in rail, vegetation management, grounds maintenance, pest control, highways or infrastructure maintenance to join a growing team working on a long-term station maintenance contract.
The Role
You will be responsible for delivering planned and reactive vegetation management and pest control activities across a portfolio of railway stations, ensuring sites remain safe, compliant and well maintained.
Key responsibilities include
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) vegetation clearance and control works.
- Undertaking reactive vegetation management including cutting back, clearance and site preparation.
- Delivering pest control activities including rodent monitoring, proofing works and prevention measures.
- Supporting station maintenance teams with wider activities when required.
- Ensuring works are completed safely and efficiently in line with company procedures.
- Completing site records, reports and maintenance documentation.
- Working closely with supervisors and delivery teams to meet programme requirements.
- Responding to reactive maintenance requests when required.
Requirements
- Experience in vegetation management, grounds maintenance, pest control, civils or similar outdoor maintenance environments.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a wider delivery team.
- Good understanding of health and safety procedures.
- Full driving licence preferred.
- Rail/PTS experience is desirable but not essential – candidates from highways, utilities, facilities management or environmental backgrounds will be considered.
