An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Works Manager to take full responsibility for the safe, efficient and commercially successful operation of a manufacturing facility in Warrington. This is a senior leadership position with accountability for all site activities including production, maintenance, engineering, health and safety, quality, operational performance and continuous improvement. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving operational excellence, developing high-performing teams and ensuring the site consistently delivers against business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all site operations, ensuring production targets are achieved safely, efficiently and in line with customer requirements.
  • Create and maintain a strong safety-first culture across the facility.
  • Ensure compliance with all Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality standards, policies and procedures.
  • Drive operational performance through effective management of productivity, efficiency, downtime, waste reduction and quality metrics.
  • Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions where required.
  • Manage site maintenance and engineering activities to maximise plant reliability and asset performance.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance programmes to ensure statutory compliance and minimise operational disruption.
  • Take ownership of site budgets, cost control and financial performance.
  • Identify opportunities for operational improvements and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Support forecasting, business planning and performance reporting activities.
  • Manage stock control and supply chain effectiveness to ensure uninterrupted production.
  • Lead continuous improvement programmes and promote best practice throughout the operation.
  • Recruit, develop and manage site teams, driving engagement, accountability and high performance.
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, suppliers and customers.

Requirements

  • Degree qualified or equivalent experience within Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience managing a manufacturing facility, production plant or large operational site.
  • Strong understanding of production management, maintenance planning and asset reliability.
  • Demonstrable experience leading Health, Safety and Environmental compliance within an industrial environment.
  • Experience managing budgets, controlling costs and delivering operational improvements.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, develop and manage teams.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Commercially aware with a proactive and results-driven approach.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with experience implementing operational excellence initiatives.
  • Experience within heavy manufacturing, industrial processing, chemicals, aggregates, asphalt, construction materials, energy or similar sectors.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 6S or Continuous Improvement methodologies.
  • IOSH or NEBOSH qualification.
