A well established UK civil engineering and infrastructure contractor is seeking a Sub Agent to join its team working on projects in North East London. The company has more than 40 years of experience delivering major infrastructure schemes across the UK, operating across sectors including water, transport, energy and the built environment.
The Role
As Sub Agent you will be responsible for managing smaller value civil engineering projects or assisting senior site management on larger schemes. The role involves ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard while maintaining programme, quality and commercial performance.
Responsibilities
- Managing the successful delivery of civil engineering and construction works.
- Producing and managing project programmes and supervising site delivery.
- Interpreting drawings and technical specifications.
- Providing engineering support and technical guidance to the project team.
- Ensuring all staff, subcontractors and visitors are properly inducted and competent for their roles.
- Representing the business professionally to clients, stakeholders and the public.
- Producing accurate monthly reports and maintaining detailed site records.
- Chairing regular site meetings and coordinating project communication.
- Ensuring all as built information is compiled accurately.
- Maintaining high standards of health, safety, environmental compliance and quality on site.
- Managing subcontractors and maintaining strong working relationships.
- Ensuring inspections, audits and HSEQ documentation are completed and up to date.
- Liaising with third parties, local authorities and regulatory bodies when required.
- Maintaining project QA documentation and ensuring work is delivered snag free and on time.
- Managing project cost plans and monitoring commercial performance.
- Tracking project costs, forecasting and value reporting.
- Maintaining detailed site diaries and records.
- Managing labour, plant and subcontractor resources effectively.
- Resolving potential resource issues quickly to maintain programme delivery.
Requirements
- Degree or HNC in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
- CSCS Manager Card.
- SMSTS.
- NEBOSH or IOSH.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Strong understanding of NEC contracts, CDM regulations, programme management and risk management.
- Knowledge of civil engineering specifications and testing regimes.
- Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams.
- Ability to challenge designs and resolve technical issues.
Desirable
- Approximately five years experience in the water sector.
- Experience working for a direct delivery civil engineering contractor.
- Temporary Works Coordinator.
- Confined space training.
- Service avoidance training.
- Leadership experience.
- Working towards chartered status or professional accreditation.
