The Opportunity:
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join a leading civil engineering contractor on a permanent basis, managing a technically complex remediation project in East London for Thames Water. This role offers a rare opportunity to take ownership of the Manor Road NOS7 and NOS8 remediation packages, overseeing all phases from design and pre-construction through to delivery and handover. The scope includes the remediation of 2 bridge structures and 5 trunk sewer barrels across both road and rail spans. You\\\’ll lead a multidisciplinary team and work in close collaboration with client stakeholders, consultants, and internal delivery teams, helping shape one of the region\\\’s most significant infrastructure rehabilitation projects.
Responsibilities
- Lead project delivery of the Manor Road remediation packages to programme, budget, and quality standards
- Manage a team of Sub Agents, Site Engineers, and support staff
- Oversee design coordination, stakeholder engagement, and procurement strategy
- Ensure that all necessary permits, consents, and approvals are in place before site works commence
- Develop and monitor programmes, risk registers, and cost forecasts
- Interface directly with the client (Thames Water) and represent the project at senior meetings
- Drive high standards in health, safety, quality, and environmental compliance
- Maintain project performance reporting and ensure alignment with internal controls and KPIs
- Work closely with commercial, planning, and supply chain teams to maximise value and reduce risk
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience delivering civil engineering or water infrastructure projects as a Project Manager
- Strong knowledge of NEC contracts, CDM regulations, and cost/programme management
- Degree or HNC in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
- Ability to lead technically complex packages from design to completion
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- CSCS card
- Leadership experience managing multi-disciplinary site teams
Desirable Qualifications & Training
- SMSTS or IOSH Managing Safely
- Temporary Works Coordinator training
- Confined space entry supervision
- Lift planning/co-ordination experience
- Working knowledge of Primavera P6
