We are seeking an experienced Senior SHEQ Manager to lead Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality delivery across major data centre construction projects in the London area. This is a senior, operational role suited to someone comfortable working in fast-paced, high-risk, technically complex environments with demanding clients and programmes.
You will take ownership of SHEQ performance on project(s), working closely with Project Directors, Construction Managers, MEP teams, and the supply chain to ensure compliance, consistency, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage SHEQ strategy across large-scale data centre construction projects
- Act as the senior SHEQ point of contact for clients, project leadership, and supply chain partners
- Provide leadership, mentoring, and line management to site-based SHEQ teams
- Ensure full compliance with CDM 2015, UK health & safety legislation, and client requirements
- Plan, deliver, and oversee site inspections, audits, and assurance programmes
- Lead investigations into incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions, ensuring corrective actions are implemented
- Review, challenge, and approve RAMS, construction methodologies, and high-risk activities
- Support MEP-heavy works including commissioning, energisation, and interface management
- Drive behavioural safety initiatives and promote a strong, positive safety culture
- Monitor SHEQ performance, trends, and KPIs, reporting to senior management and clients
- Support project teams with practical, solutions-led advice that enables safe delivery
- Proven experience in a Senior SHEQ Manager or H&S Manager role on major construction or infrastructure projects
- Strong background in data centres, critical infrastructure, MEP, or large commercial construction
- Experience operating at senior leadership and client-facing level
- Demonstrable experience managing SHEQ teams across complex sites
- Strong understanding of risk management in safety-critical environments
- NEBOSH Diploma (essential)
- Chartered status (CMIOSH) or working towards
- CSCS Manager or Professional card
- ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 knowledge (Lead Auditor desirable)
- Strong leadership presence with the ability to influence at all levels
- Commercially aware and delivery-focused
- Confident challenging unsafe practices and senior stakeholders when required
- Highly organised with strong reporting and communication skills
- Calm, decisive, and credible in high-pressure environments
