Job Purpose – Operate as part of the warehouse team to deliver key performance targets safely, effectively and efficiently, meeting required customer and technical standards.
Responsibilities
- Assist goods inwards by receiving product as required.
- Store food items in the correct location.
- Pick and collate orders accurately.
- Check product labels (batch codes, customer codes, order numbers) to ensure full traceability.
- Organise product for dispatch at the end of shift, ready for loading crew the following morning.
- Verify all dispatched orders are on the correct pallets.
- Act as standby driver to complete deliveries if necessary.
- Raise awareness to senior management or sales team of any product that is unavailable or any late delivery requiring expediting.
- Assist the Warehouse Manager and Department Supervisors by supporting other warehouse departments as required.
Health & Safety
- Wear correct PPE including clothing, gloves and shoes.
- Comply with food and hygiene requirements and HACCP principles at all times.
- Operate within the company health and safety standards, keeping workstations clean and tidy.
- Report any hazards or equipment problems immediately to your Department Supervisor and support resolution as appropriate.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Previous warehouse work is an advantage.
- Fork Lift Truck licence and experience is a plus.
- Knowledge and understanding of supply chain stages from intake to processing and dispatch.
- Ability to prioritise workload effectively.
- Ability to work under pressure and deliver to deadlines.
- Knowledge of the food and meat industry is desirable.
- Understanding of factors that affect efficiency.
- Teamwork and communication skills.
Qualifications Required
- Driving Licence (required).
- Category C Licence (required).
- CPC Training certificate (required).
Job Details
- Job Types: Full‑time, Permanent
- Shift Pattern: Monday to Thursday 8am – 4:30pm, with a 30‑minute unpaid break; Friday 8am – 2:30pm. Total 38 hours per week.
