What you will be doing

As part of a team of over 130 butchers, you will support the delivery of daily performance targets by processing pork legs within our state‑of‑the‑art butchery hall.

Your daily tasks and goals include

  • Production Line Butchery: Preparing pork legs to standard specifications including deboning, rind removal and trimming of the meat.
  • Quality and Standards: Following strict procedures and complying with all technical standards to ensure the product meets customer requirements.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhering to the highest levels of health, safety and food hygiene regulations at all times.
  • Team Collaboration: Working closely with fellow line operators to achieve realistic daily targets based on product requirements.
  • Operational Excellence: Maintaining an extremely clean and well‑organised workspace using state‑of‑the‑art equipment.
  • What you will bring

  • Industry Experience: Experience in butchery or food production line work is preferred but not required.
  • Technical Skills: Knife skills in a similar setting would be beneficial for this role.
  • Communication: English language skills to ESOL Level 2 are required to ensure safety and quality standards.
  • Physical Resilience: The ability to work in a cold environment and stand for long periods throughout your shift.

Our salary scale ranges from £27,300 to £32,607 per annum depending on your level of skill, with overtime paid at 1.5 times the hourly rate when needed to fulfil customer requirements.

In addition to your base salary we offer a bonus scheme based on the volume and standards of finished product as well as 28 days holiday per year plus bank holidays.

You will be joining a "centre of excellence" that holds the highest British Retail Consortium (BRC) AA+ standard award, a testament to our fantastic teamwork and excellent results.

We are committed to your growth and provide full training for every station on the line with regular assessments and further training available to give you opportunities for progression and development.

To ensure your comfort and safety in our cold environment we provide full PPE including coveralls, shoes and ear defenders for your shift.
