We’re working with a well-established fashion retailer who are looking to recruit a commercially minded and analytical Junior Merchandiser to join their Merchandising team.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a fast-paced retail business, supporting the planning, trading and performance of a varied product range. Working closely with the Buying and Merchandising teams, you’ll help ensure the right products are available at the right time, maximising sales, managing stock, and driving profitability.
You’ll use your analytical skills and commercial awareness to monitor performance, identify opportunities and support key merchandising decisions, while developing your experience within a dynamic and collaborative retail environment.
- Support the development and delivery of departmental merchandising plans, ensuring sales, stock, intake, and profit targets are achieved.
- Work closely with the Buyer to build balanced product ranges that reflect customer expectations, commercial objectives, and the overall brand strategy.
- Assist with the preparation and maintenance of sales, stock, intake, and profit plans, alongside option and space plans.
- Monitor weekly sales and stock performance, identifying trends, opportunities and areas requiring action.
- Support in-season trading decisions, including managing stock levels, intake phasing, repeat orders, cancellations, and markdown activity where appropriate.
- Help manage key merchandising KPIs, including sales, margin, stock cover and markdown, to maximise departmental profitability.
- Work closely with suppliers and internal teams to monitor deliveries, manage intake targets and identify potential supply issues.
- Liaise with Stock Distribution to support the effective allocation of stock and ensure availability meets customer demand.
- Analyse competitor activity, market trends and customer behaviour to support commercial decision-making and future range planning.
- Work collaboratively with Buying and the wider Merchandising team to ensure product ranges are aligned with departmental and divisional objectives.
- Utilise merchandising systems and reporting tools, including WSSI and business intelligence systems, to support forecasting, analysis, and trading decisions.
Additional Information
- You’ll have previous experience within fashion merchandising, ideally within a retail environment, and a strong understanding of sales, stock, and margin performance.
- You’ll be highly analytical, commercially aware, and confident working with Excel and numerical data. Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to build effective relationships with colleagues and external partners will be essential.
