We are working on an amazing opportunity for an Assistant Merchandiser to join a market leading retailer. The Assistant Merchandiser will play a key role in driving sales, profitability, and stock efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain clear store grading frameworks, policies, and reporting tools.
  • Establish stock and space parameters that align with grading strategies.
  • Create seasonal grading plans based on historical performance and sales forecasts.
  • Regularly review and refine store grading throughout the season to optimise trading opportunities.
  • Analyse previous season performance to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
  • Recommend store delivery schedules within operational guidelines and collaborate with Distribution teams to ensure effective implementation.
  • Continuously assess the relationship between sales performance, stock levels, and available store space.
  • Analyse store performance to identify strengths, weaknesses, and growth opportunities.
  • Provide recommendations to Regional Managers to improve sales and stock productivity.
  • Work closely with Regional Managers and store teams to maintain balanced stock levels across locations.
  • Monitor stock composition and inventory levels across all stores on an ongoing basis.
  • Coordinate stock transfers where necessary to achieve the most effective stock distribution.
  • Evaluate seasonal trading patterns and identify opportunities within specific store groups, such as tourist or coastal locations.
  • Manage markdown strategies to ensure stores hold appropriate stock quantities while protecting profitability.

Store Engagement and Visits

  • Identify priority stores and organise visits in partnership with Regional Managers, Store Managers, and the Stock Distribution team.
  • Coordinate and oversee the store visit programme.
  • Ensure actions arising from store visits are documented, communicated, and followed through effectively.

Additional Information

The Assistant Merchandiser must have some previous experience at Store Manager level or within a Head Office Merchandising function, with the proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced retail environment while managing multiple priorities, and strong numerical and Microsoft Excel skills.
