We are looking for a proactive PR Executive to help raise awareness of Thwaites and our award-winning collection of spa hotels and inns, through supporting our PR activity. An exceptional writer, you will help draft engaging content and generate positive headlines in local, regional and national media, as well as on social media, by working closely with both journalists and influencers.

Reporting into the PR and Comms Lead, you will have a passion for writing, strong communication and relationship building skills, as well as meticulous organisation skills in order to support the work that is being done to raise the profile of our fantastic properties within target media titles. You will also be instrumental in shaping the influencer marketing strategy across the portfolio.

Your day-to-day activities will include:

  • Writing, news creation and storytelling – researching, writing and issuing press releases, editorial content, features, advertorials and spokesperson quotes in crisis situations, as well as pro-actively pitching positive news stories and content to journalists in order to secure coverage
  • Media support – exploring media opportunities to promote the whole spectrum of Thwaites’ properties and liaising with journalists and influencers to forge relationships and arrange press trips
  • Awards submissions – identifying, drafting and entering relevant industry awards to boost the company’s profile and prestige
  • Internal support – managing internal distribution of our press releases and any coverage secured as a result; and supporting any media events when needed
  • The job may involve occasional weekend and evening work and requires travel to our beautiful properties across the UK

Who are we looking for

  • An experienced and talented writer, you’ll have a knack for drafting a variety of highly engaging media content including press releases, features, editorial and advertorial, plus spokesperson quotes to help manage crisis situations
  • You will need excellent communication skills and be able to build strong relationships with internal team members at our properties, as well as with external media
  • You will be required to confidently liaise with the media, including journalists and influencers, in order to pitch stories and secure coverage, so strong interpersonal and negotiation skills are essential
  • You will already have a strong black book of consumer journalist and influencer contacts
  • You will be required to assist in securing and organising press visits to our properties, so strong organisation skills, with exceptional attention to detail is essential
  • We’re looking for someone with great attention to detail who ideally has a minimum of three years’ experience in a consumer PR role with relevant qualifications in Journalism Studies, Public Relations or Communications
  • Previous experience in hospitality/leisure PR is an advantage
  • You will have a full, clean driving licence
